About Me

On a college campus in springtime, a woman with dark brown hair is looking at the camera. Trees with white blossoms are in the background.

Hello there!

I'm Kayla, and I've been working as a Front-End developer for over ten years. In that time, I have worked on and with teams in varying industries, including cloud computing, cybersecurity, and e-commerce.

I specialize in the presentation layer and work to advocate for the user by collaborating closely with UX, Design, and Product teams. In more recent years, that advocacy has shifted even greater into a focus (pun intended) on accessibility and helping businesses build, fix, and maintain WCAG-compliant web applications. Anywhere I code, I strive to build accessible, inclusive experiences as the web was originally meant to be.

When I'm not working, I am dabbling in my various creative pursuits. With a background in design, I am at my happiest when I get to make beautiful things. I enjoy drawing, painting, sewing, and general craft-making. A Delaware native, I now call Northern Maine home, where I live with my fiancé and our fur children. We love exploring the outdoors and traveling whenever we are able.

I currently work as a UI architect and am open to accepting freelance, contract, or full-time opportunities for either front-end, accessibility audit remediations, or design work. Please reach out if you're interested in working with me.

If you've made it this far- thanks for reading!
